Research Interests

My research position at the University of Erlangen-Nüremberg is founded by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft) . The subject of the supported research project is appointed to:
  • Expression Templates for Partial Differential Equations
Within the scope of this work and beyond, my actual research focuses the following topics:
  • Expression Templates
  • Efficient libraries for solving PDEs
  • Finite Elements
  • Numerical linear Algebra

Expression Templates

The implementation of expression templates within C++ is for mainly programmers with no experience in this subject pretty challenging, were some may even resign the technique. Hence we present a small and simple version of expression templates, that should be well understandable with the attached comments.

Colsamm

Colsamm denotes an C++ template library concerung the efficient and user-friendly computation of the local stiffness matrices arising with the finite element method. A more detailed explantation, download and recent developments can be found in the Colsamm homepage!

Publications and Talks

My list of publications and talks contains mainly results from the researches concerning implemenation variants of the expression templates technique. Especially, the performance improvements of the method for high performance platforms.
Additionally, we recognize an increasing user group of the Colsamm template library. Hence, there are several cooperations and joint publications.
