3rd Erlangen High-End-Computing Symposium / KONWIHR Results Workshop

3rd Erlangen High-End-Computing Symposium
KONWIHR Results Workshop

Purpose

Leading edge research relies more and more on High-End-Computing. Computer simulation increasingly replaces dangerous or expensive experiments; complex theoretical models in the sciences often become useful only when performed by numerical computation. The computer aided optimization of processes and technical systems is the key to design and develop competetive products in the global market place.

The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg has already reacted to the central importance of High-End-Computing as a core enabling technology by its participation in research networks, such as FORTWIHR or KONWIHR and the new elite study programs, such as the Bavarian Graduate School in Computational Engineering.

This symposium will present a review of High-End-Computing from an international perspective and will highlight current and future developments. The symposium is jointly organized by

Lehrstuhl für Systemsimulation

Regionales Rechenzentrum Erlangen

Bavarian Graduate School in Computational Engineering
International Doctorate Program

Kompetenznetzwerk für Technisch-Wissenschaftliches Hoch- und Höchstleistungsrechnen in Bayern

The five speakers will illustrate the spectrum of High-End-Computing from computer architecture to the applications.

Agenda

KONWHIR-Results Workshop

Each presentation is 15+5 minutes. The presentations can be given either in German or English. The order of the talks is not fixed yet. One central notebook will be provided for each presentation to save time when switching.
