Research Interest

The primary field in my Ph.D. studies are multigrid methods, especially in the application field of molecular dynamics. In that field there are several specific challenges, such as unbound domains, long-range interactions or singularities playing a major role. I develop new approaches for coping with those issues, e.g. hierarchical coarsened grid structures. Emphasis is put on algorithmical efficiency and the parallelization on modern architectures.

BGCE

Together with Harald Köstler I am coordinator of the elite master program in Computational Engineering, which is offered within the Bavarian Graduate School of Computational Engineering. This international course is taking place in close cooperation with the Computational Mechanics (COME) and Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) courses of the TU Munich. The course is part of the Elitenetzwerks Bayern (Bavarian elite network) and started 2005 witzh the slogan "Do more - get more!". The graduates achieve their degree with honours and are offered a deeper scientific (block courses, summer schools) and personal (soft skills) education in return. Furthermore, they are integrated into current research during their master studies via a research project.
