Since January 2005, I have been serving as editor-in-chief for the SIAM J. Scientific Computing. SISC is currently ranked as #8 according to its impact factor among all applied mathematics journals. The Special Issue on Computational Science and Engineering will appear this year. I am also a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Parallel and Emergent Distributed Systems , and the International Journal of Computational Science and Engineering (IJCSE).

I currently serve on the program committees of

From 2002-2005, I have been Associate Dean for the Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

Bavarian Graduate School in Computational Engineering

The Bavarian Graduate School in Computational Engineering is a master level program of excellence, taught in English, that has been selected for the Bavaria's Elite-Network Initiative and receives special funding from there. The degree awarded is a "Master of Science with Honours". This program offers special courses and intensive individual guidance for highly motivated and talented students.

This premium Master degree program is based on the existing International Master Program in Computational Engineering at Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and is conducted in collaboration with two related programs at Technische Universität München (CSE, COME). For more information on this new program see the information page and the (German) description of the program. The courses offered for the elite program can be found via the information system of the university UnivIS .

Students can be considered for the Elite Program (Master with Honours) in Computational Engineering if they are either

  • Enrolled in the regular Master Program Computational Engineering, or are
  • undergraduate students enrolled at University or Erlangen in an engineering discipline, mathematics, or (natural) science, having completed 6 semesters of studying with excellent grades.
Please contact me directly, for additional information and applications.

Research

  • An overview of the projects my group is working on, can be found at our research page .
  • My personal research page and current projects (including proposals for collaboration) is a bit outdated - please check also the group's pages.

Teaching

Courses and lectures of the Simulation Group can be found on a separate page and through the information system of the university UnivIS .

Good Teaching is one of my priorities. My current student evaluations for the lectures Numerical Simulation of Fluids and the lecture Simulation and Scientific Computing are avalaible (but only as pdf and only in German). The latter is also listed among best lectures of the Technische Fakultät.
