Between semesters office hours are by appointment only (please use e-mail). Since January 2005, I have been serving as editor-in-chief for the SIAM J. Scientific Computing. SISC is currently ranked as #8 according to its impact factor among all applied mathematics journals. The Special Issue on Computational Science and Engineering was published in 2008 as Volume 30 Issue 6. I am also a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Parallel and Emergent Distributed Systems, International Journal of Computational Science and Engineering (IJCSE), SIAM Undergraduate Research Online (SIURO), and of the newly published Elsevier Science Journal on Computational Science (JoCS). Since January 2009 I serve as Program Director of the SIAM Activity Group on Computational Science and Engineering. The SIAG CS&E with 1700 members is not only the largest activity group of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, but also one of the most active CS&E related groups in the world and has since very recently it's own wiki. Bavarian Graduate School in Computational Engineering

This premium Master degree program is based on the existing International Master Program in Computational Engineering at Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and is conducted in collaboration with two related programs at Technische Universität München (CSE, COME). For more information on this new program see the information page and the (German) description of the program. The courses offered for the elite program can be found via the information system of the university UnivIS .

Starting in fall semester 2008, CE students can obtain a double Master's degree from two leading European universities:

• FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, and
• Kungl. Tekniska Högskolan, Stockholm, Sweden.

The CE-course is supported within the European Program of Excellence Erasmus-Mundus as one of the partner programs of the Master Course Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering (COSSE).

Good Teaching is one of my priorities. My current student evaluations for the lectures Numerical Simulation of Fluids and the lecture Simulation and Scientific Computing are avalaible (but only as pdf and only in German). They are also listed among the best lectures at the School of Engineering for WS07-08 and SS08.
